teraflops technology is here but in the form of one processor wOOt

from the picture on the site ive assertained what this guy is doing....
hires image:

if you look closely at this photo you can zoom on the guys tft and see that he is stress loading the chip and its 80 cores on nearly full peak...
you can see the 80 squares representing each core, the indicator in the left top showing if its over stressed or not (red or green) and nearby the cpu load which judging from the picture all are at 100% load and no red lights !!!!
awsome stuff tbh !

I think its kinda overkill, like wtf you do want to do with 80 cores? You cant have 4 times crisis on on 4 screens on the same time, no video card could handle that :s
But I guess there is a future in this stuff. Maybe 4 home pcs on 1 super core

Its the way things are going, multi core cpus can operate at much lower temperatures than single core and achieve much better speeds consequently. The PS3 is meant to have 9cores and 100 core cpus will be common place in the future. Bet they not cheap tho. |
