good idea tweak, i think i have the panel pack, will dig out a black one !
mouse is coming along fine, still getting used to it really, cant put another 8800 in as theres no room !
both pci-e slots (the evga has 3) are obscure by the xfi and the raid card
psu is a tagan 900w

perhaps get a pci-e riser m8 ?? they come in many sizes and flavours used for cluster servers such as what you have more or less...

its a very old idea tbh dating back from early 90's with ISA cards etc.

My new system also has 8800gtx (Club3D) and Core 2 Duo 6600, but only 2 gig RAM. Would be nice to compare some benchmarks, what score are you getting from 3DMark06?
It was nice to see you yesterday on flatlinerz server, you should have stayed longer

not sure about the riser card idea, i dont think it will secure in the case properly with another 8800 , it will probably snap !
Thanks kirty, i basically had 2 pcs before, a quad core xeon with the raid 5 array in, but i've combined the 2 into one massive box !
Pop, i'll do some benchies soon, i do know that my cpu is really holding me back which is why i want quad core, but they are doing 65mn chips soon, so will go for one of them when they come out.
Stan, im hoping to do some proper time travel with it ! |

Thats a lot of hard drives to have in your case, maybe think about getting one of these to store them in
http://www.nexsan.com/sataboy.php
its a raided up box that connect to the pc through fibre optics, fbi use the atabeast for there data storage afaik. Can get up to 30 hard drives in the cheaper model.

rofl an 8800 would snap that
Word of warning if you are consider an 8800 THEY ARE HUGE. B4 purchase check your case has enuf space as the cards 27 cm in length and that you have a suitable 600w minimum psu

idd, i had to file a bit of my case away to actually get the thing to fit, you need to feel one to appreciate just how big, and heavey they are. it needs 2 PCI-e power connects
Megs, im liking those, any idea on prices ? |

Officaly i dread to think how much they would cost a few thousand at least. The uk branch make them in Derby, a m8 of mine got one nicked for £600 plus a couple of TB of hard drives through a guy who "used" to work in the warehouse there. He was later sacked for stealing lol.. |

Strange, I got Vista Ultimate and had no probs running it on my system (score was around 9400, can't remember exatcly). I downloaded "3DMark®06 Basic Edition (Build 1.1.0)", installed and it worked ok without any extra steps!
One thing I noticed that the 3DMark online analysis tool claimed that I have 2 1gig SDRAM modules installed, when they in fact are DDR2s :\ I need to check if I have installed them in wrong slot configuration.
